Charalambos Charalambous

Charalambos Y. Charalambous is an Associate Professor at the Department of Education of the University of Cyprus, specializing in Educational Research and Evaluation. He holds a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Cyprus (2000), an MA in Mathematics Education from the same university (2003), an MA in Statistics from the University of Michigan (2006) and a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan (2008). After his graduate studies, he conducted post-doctoral research at Harvard University (2009-2010). His research interests include teaching effectiveness with a particular focus on understanding the work of teaching and measuring teaching quality; contributors to teaching quality (e.g., teachers’ selection and use of curriculum materials, teachers’ personal resources, such as their knowledge for teaching and their beliefs); and the effects of teaching on student learning. He is also interested in teacher initial training and teacher professional development through video-club initiatives aimed toward guided reflection on practice. Charalambos served as the Convenor of the Special Interest Group 18 of Educational Effectiveness of the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (2018-2022).
